Aspen/Snowmass
Aspen Mountain was founded in 1946 as the first ski area venture of the Aspen Skiing Company founded by Walter Paepcke, and today it is one of four adjacent ski areas operated by the company as part of the Aspen/Snowmass complex. Aspen mountain, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk Mountain together make up the Aspen/Snowmass Complex. The Aspen area retains a unique cultural flavor that harkens to the earlier days of recreational skiing in the state. The ski area is located along interstate 70 within the White River National Forest. Today the company is managed in alignment with their guiding principals mission statement:
We renew the spirit by sustaining the “Aspen Idea,” a complete life nurturing mind, body and spirit. We value:Humanity: We treat people the way they’d like to be treated, modeling authenticity, transparency, courtesy, respect and humility.
Excellence: in business, quality, craftsmanship, guest service and athletic achievement.
Sustainability: of people, profits, the environment and the community so that we are in business forever.
Passion: We live our core values and embrace life-long learning and meaningful work.
